Brighouse Sports and Heartbeat to purchase first Brighouse public Defibrillator!
HEARTBEAT The Brighouse Heart Support Group (HEARTBEAT) and Brighouse Sports Club (BSC) and The Party Venue which is the (BSC) newly named function suite have pooled resources to purchase an IPAD SP1 defibrillator to be located on the outside of the BSC building in Russell Way, Brighouse. It will be stored in a locked cabinet with the key code given by the Ambulance Service when the 999 call is made.
This will be the first defibrillator in Brighouse that is available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. It will be available to all the sports sections at the BSC, all the party goers at events at the BSC function suite The Party Venue, HEARTBEAT’s classes and events and also the general public in Brighouse.
The chosen defibrillator can be used on adults and children at the flick of a switch.
HEARTBEAT have raised funds from donations from Bernie Holdsworth’s family made at her funeral service in March of this year, Brighouse 41 Club and HEARTBEAT member and BSC Trustee, John Dickenson. HEARTBEAT have also raised funding from a sponsored walk. BSC will also contribute to the costs and will train up to 24 coaches and staff to use the defibrillator.
Paul Sweeney from BSC commented “ we are proud to be the first public place to have this machine in Brighouse we have many guests and sporting participants at Brighouse Sports and our newly named function room The Party Venue and although we hope this machine will never be needed it is fantastic news to know it is there in case of the worst ever happening”. “I was going to contact and ask local business for contributions towards the cost but instead we decided to use our next two social gatherings to help raise the extra monies required. Our next event which is on the 28th November will feature Soul Duo Richie Enrique and Calvin Ross the price will be £8 per ticket and includes supper, it would be fantastic if the business people and public from Brighouse helped us with this event”
